Virgo

Our journey through the signs so far has been through those that rule the houses in the bottom half of the horoscope. Virgo, as ruler of the 6th house, is the last sign before entering the upper half of the circle. The lower represents the work on a personal and inner level. Having reached the top of the pyramid with Leo, she wants to make any last minute adjustments to the sense of self before entering into the world of the other and the world. There is a strong need to purify, to become the best or most perfect one can become, and to balance out the Leonian energies with service from the bottom of the pyramid.

There are many myths associated with this sign, but according to the ancient sources, the gifts she gives are purity and grace, a natural mastery of words, a discriminating intellect, skillful creativity, is bashful, humble and tuned into the mysteries of nature.

One association is with the goddess Astrae, the goddess of justice, who lived on earth during the golden age, teaching the natural order of the world which is in tune with universal energies. As the earth’s corruption got worse and the other gods began to leave, she hung on until the very last, wanting to be of service, but finally she gave up and left to be alone. Virgo is a caring sign, but also the loner and cynic! In fact, they might be the most “loner” sign. These souls remember simpler, more harmonious times and are looking for ways to bring natural order to a random and chaotic world. They have an inner judge.
