Melody Scott Zindell
Born on May 27, 1955 at 11:49 pm in Colorado Springs, I am the eldest of five children of missionary parents, and spent my formative years overseas in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. These earlier experiences with different lifestyles and religions underscored the ever present question “why?” which has kept me on my basic journey of exploring life's meaning. My path is a mystical one, and when I discovered astrology in my early 20’s it hooked me as a most useful tool with which to give a deeper and more objective understanding to my life, other people and life in general. I feel grateful and privileged to be able to have my profession also be a joy, passion and service. After graduating with a degree in Anthropology, magna cum laude, from the University of Colorado in 1979, I spent many years in Corporate America. I was the Executive National Director of Marketing and Sales with Encyclopaedia Britanica in Chicago when my daughter Hawk was born, which prompted me to take a less stressful job as District Sales Manager in Salt Lake City. While there, I had an epiphany that I could not do that job and be the kind of mother I wanted to be, and so left that world to work at home, which included piano teaching, network marketing and then owning and operating a martial arts studio with my daughters, who both taught as 2nd degree Dans. However, this was all just to make a living. My heart began to atrophy. Both my daughter Canary and my son Damian were born in Boulder, Colorado where our roots run deep. As a single parent since my daughters were 2 and 6, they were home-schooled. When Damian arrived unexpectedly, and with Down Syndrome, I phased out all business ventures to be available for all of his needs, which also gracefully moved me into full time astrology work. My astrological training is in both the evolutionary and psychological approaches, with a solid foundation of being self taught in the classical tradition. Jyoti Wind gave me my first professional astrology reading and put me on a serious path with her classes. I have also studied directly under
Jeffrey Wolf Green
and
Maurice Fernandez
who use the evolutionary approach to astrology. Another big influence on my work comes from
Mark Husson
who clearly teaches the fundamentals of psychological astrology.
My focus is on the psychological and spiritual dimensions of life and I like to synthesize the most important and deeply practical material from many sources. In my many years as an astrological consultant, I have found people’s strength, sincerity and spirit to be a reminder of how meaningful our place in time is. This system is a very important and fundamental, core tool, which can be both practical and mystical, and literally take years off therapy!
